In the new avtar of the Indian Express, an international blog is mentioned on the first page and a city based blog finds place on page 2.
The Chennai edition picks up nice city-blogs and I follow the list closely.
It was a pleasant surprise that the New Indian Express picked up a post from this blog for its page 2 top band for today!
Here it is.

I would have been happier if they had picked up a latest post from the blog instead of a year-old entry!

Summer Camp on Quizzing!

Isn't it fun to participate in quiz?
Whether you make it to the finals or not, you still have chances to win the audience prize for each unanswered question!
But quizzing is not about knowing everything by heart or being just the world's most brilliant kid. It's about a lot of techniques, mind development, alertness and a few strategies.

When I came across a summer camp for improving the quizzing skills I wanted to gather more information about it, as it is completely different from all the other camps in the city.
The organiser Ms. Nirmala Kannappan promises that it does not involve any reading and mugging up or the usual question and answer session from loads of GK books. She says it is different.

Hey, why not try something new, instead of making the same art and painting stuff this summer.

Summer activities in Chennai for kids

Summer camps are not another set of school-like places, as kids and parents think generally.
The variety of summer activities ( I prefer to use the word 'activities' in place of 'camps' or 'classes'!)I receive on the mail box of YOCee - the website for kids of Chennai, made me rethink how best the holidays could be used by the kids.

The children of today are more curious, more intelligent with more and more exposure with the invasion of television and internet into our drawing and bed rooms.
Feeding their quest for knowledge and potential energy is a must, whether it is a holiday or a working day!

Here are a few summer camps I would like to feature in this blog from the pages of YOCee:

Check the growing list of summer activities for children in Chennai at YOCee, daily!

If you find this post useful, do drop a comment. It will encourage us - the small team in YOCee!

Trails for the vacation!

Do you remember when summer holidays meant unlimited fun and carefree times, maybe visiting your grandparents at the ancestral family home, lazy afternoons spent - chasing butterflies, climbing trees to pluck raw mangoes, or throwing stones into the village pond?

This summer, Storytrails announces a set of enjoyable trails for children.
How about a day spent at a village, soaking in the atmosphere, trying a hand at farming, getting to know that eggs don’t really come from the fridge nor rice from the supermarket?

Or a walk on the wild side, literally through a forest?
And for all the movie buffs, how about a peep behind the scenes to discover the movie making process itself?
Doesn’t a day spent camping out, running amok amongst trees and playing games with friends their age, sound enticing?

Cinema Trail, Forest Trail, Bazaar Trail, Culinary Trail, Village Trail or the Storytrails camp-out – take your pick.
For children between the ages of 6 and 12, and a special overnighter for young teens completing their 10th exams this year.
For details, call 99400 40215 or mail to storytrails.kids@gmail.com
